Sergeant Ben Mixon has been with the Marietta Police Department just
over ten years. He attended Auburn University and graduated with a
bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Sergeant Mixon has worked all
three uniform patrol shifts as an officer and the morning watch and day
watch as a sergeant. He is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course: Effective Communications & Human Relations/Skills for Success
and has received multiple certifications in various aspects of the law
enforcement profession. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant three
years ago, and transferred to the Community Response Unit (CRU) just
over a year ago. As the CRU sergeant he is responsible for the
Citizens’ Police Academy, the Pastors’ Academy, the Internship Program,
the Volunteer Program, as well as numerous other events and programs.
He is a certified instructor with specialization certifications in
Health and Wellness, PIT, Taser and Firearms. Sergeant Mixon is married
and has a five year old son and a three year old daughter.
