Al Lipphardt - Recent Legislative Developments Affecting Veterans

Al served the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Department of Georgia as State Commander 2014-2015 earning recognition as an All American Department Commander for his leadership. He was previously recognized as an All American Post Commander and All American District Commander. He was the first State Commander from Georgia since 1989, to earn VFW’s highest recognition, the Triple Crown, as Department Commander. He currently serves VFW’s national organization as Vice Chairman of the Legislative Committee to the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate where he continues the longstanding tradition of advocating on behalf of veterans, their spouses and children for Congressional promises made long ago.

Al has been a Rotarian since 1984. He served twice as president of the Rotary Club of Stone Mountain and District Governor for the 4800 plus members of Rotary District 6900 in 1999-2000. His leadership has been recognized with the Rotary International Foundation “Citation for Meritorious Service” and Rotary International’s Highest Award to an individual, the “Service Above Self Award”. He currently serves Zone 34 of Rotary International as an Assistant Rotary Coordinator for Districts 6900, 6910 and 6920 as well as membership chair for the Rotary Club of Stone Mountain.

Al attended Georgia Perimeter College and is a graduate of Pacific Western University receiving an undergraduate degree in Business Administration. Lipphardt is a retired business owner, providing custom framing, engraving, and specialty gifts to military and civilian personnel. Al and his wife Carol have been married since 1967, have two grown married daughters and seven grandchildren. They are contributors to the community through a number of associations including church, business and other civic groups.
