Officer Jared Rakestraw started his career with the Marietta Police Department in 2010 and worked on Uniform Patrol Evening Watch for four years before transferring to the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit. He currently investigates all serious injury and fatality crashes that occur in Marietta. He has a true passion for traffic enforcement and education.
Officer Rakestraw is a Georgia P.O.S.T. certified Instructor who frequently instructs at the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy, Kennesaw Driving School, Media and Citizen Academies, along with other various schools and events. His specialties include Crash Reconstruction, DUI Detection and Traffic Law.
Officer Rakestraw grew up in Cobb County and graduated from Harrison High School in 2007. Afterwards, he attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton, Georgia where he graduated with an Associate Degree in Wildlife Management.
Officer Rakestraw currently lives in Kennesaw, Georgia with his loving wife Kelley and their four pets (two dogs and two cats). In his spare time, Officer Rakestraw enjoys spending time with his wife, going on Caribbean cruises and doing anything outdoors.
