Atlanta West End Supports Community Theater

Atlanta West End Rotary put its money where its mouth is and provided financial sponsorship of the West End's very own Essential Theatre. Besides turning out together to attend the world premiere of “Slaying Holofernes” in late July, AWER sponsored the post-play reception for the West End Neighborhood night at the theatre, which gave club members a chance to talk with other community members and to share information about the club. This provocative play by local playwright, Emily McClain, gave the audience a sobering look at how things have and have not changed for women in the world over the past 400 years. Slaying Holofernes was the winner of Essential Theatre’s annual competition recognizing new works by Georgia playwrights. Supporting the local arts in the West End Community is just one of the things AWE-Rotary does in this vibrant, historic yet changing community.
