Join us this Friday at Le Meridien Perimeter Atlanta to prepare books for our annual "every student receives a book" donation to Dresden and Kingsley Elementary School. You may also join by Zoom for announcements, a "surprise visitor" and fellowship as you cheer on the Dunwoody team! Join by Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86202979419
We will be carrying on a Dunwoody tradition that started a bit smaller in 1998 when Dunwoody Rotarians each brought a book to the holiday luncheon for a child at Dresden. A little bit later, the project expanded and the Dunwoody Family of Rotary gathered the first Saturday in December at the home of Roy and Franci Ethridge to put book plates and Spanish-English vocabulary cards in a book for each and every Dresden student. It was a tradition that included laughter, coffee, donuts, sausage biscuits and races to see how fast we could complete the task ... along with the knowledge that we were giving children the gift of literacy.
We moved that tradition to a Friday morning meeting a few years ago, with Jack Sparks taking the lead role.
