Join us this Friday at the Embassy Suites to welcome the Honorable Chris Carr, Attorney General of the State of Georgia. Appointed to this position by then Governor Nathan Deal in 2016, Carr was re-elected in November 2022.
This is a great opportunity to bring a friend to Rotary, particularly someone who might be interested in joining the club. We do expect a large crowd and will be in a larger room at the Embassy Suites. We ask that you take time now to send Dave Burr a list of your guests so that we can make name tags in advance and to help with meal planning. [more]
Help represent Dunwoody Rotary at Dunwoody Oktoberfest ... sponsored by St. Patrick's Episcopal Church on Saturday, September 28 from noon to 6 pm! We will have a booth with a great opportunity to tell the of how we're working to make a difference in our community and the world. Three ways you can be involved: 1) Take a two-hour shift in our booth, 2) Sign up to help with setting up the booth, and 3) bring the family out to enjoy the festivities!
Contact Mike Kenig or Tina Philpott if you'd like to help!

As we look to GROW our membership in 2024, maybe you know someone who might like the opportunity to serve, but also enjoy the great fellowship activities we offer. Two recent events come to mind ... gathering to see The Music Man in Sandy Springs AND the unique opportunity provided by John Vinyard to tour Assembly's movie and TV production facilities in Chamblee.
Keep bringing guests to our Friday meetings but also consider bringing them to Thirsty Thursdays.
And remember we have an incentive program this year: $100 off your bill in January for a guest you bring between now and then who joins the Club. Have two guests who become new members??...$200 credit!! Max incentive is $300 but don't let that stop you.
Growing our Club’s membership allows us TO DO MORE FOR MORE… "IMPACT” is your payoff for the personal investment you are making in RCD!
Griff was introduced to Rotary through his wife, Dottie Toney, who was already a member of our club. He participated in several activities as a Rotary spouse and then joined the club in June 2018. Griff has served on the board as the Sergeant of Arms. His favorite club activity was attending the district conference which he coordinated for the club last year.
After 35 years of residential construction, Griff retired in
February 2020 from Obsidian Construction just in time for the COVID holiday. He
grew bored quickly because he doesn't think that he has any hobbies so he returned
to construction projects pretty quickly. When he's not fixing leaks and
installing drywall at his home, he commutes regularly to downtown Atlanta to
manage the installation of a modular home that his nephew
is developing. And when he really wants to get away from work, he goes
sailing on Lake Lanier, fishing for piranha in Brazil, and traveling with
Dottie.
We are pleased to announce that Be THE Voice has launched at Dunwoody Elementary School, sponsored by our club! As we learned earlier this month, Be THE Voice is a student-led movement to promote kindness, compassion and inclusion from grade school to graduation! The program includes lots of fun activities in support of these messages and a strong anti-bullying message too. The program features High Five Fridays, World Kindness Day activities, Kindness Bingo, and a Random Acts of Kindness Souper-Bowl.
Mark your calendars now for our USO Volunteer Day at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport: Thursday October 17,
We will serve our service personnel and family members an “All American” lunch of hot dogs with all the condiments, potato chips, fresh fruit, snack bars, home baked cookies bottled water, AND a portion of baked Ziti & Mom’s meatball. We would like to have a total of eight volunteers for the day from 9 AM to 3 PM. A shout out to our new members: please consider volunteering at the USO, it is one of the most satisfying and rewarding day of service.
We need volunteers to be at the airport on the 17th, as well as home baked cookies and bottled water if you'd like to donate. Read on for more details and contact Charlie Augello if you can help. [more]
As Executive Director at Clubhouse Atlanta, I would like to invite you to our 4th anniversary celebration on Thursday, October 10 at the Historic Donaldson-Bannister Farm in Dunwoody, GA. Join us for a great evening at Memberfest '24 and help support our mission.
Clubhouse Atlanta's (CA) mission is to provide a restorative environment for people who have had their lives disrupted by mental illness and need the support of others who believe that recovery is possible. CA gives members the opportunity to rejoin the world of friendships, family, employment, education, and the ability to access individual services and the support they need.
At Memberfest '24, you can stroll around the historic grounds at Donaldson-Bannister Farm - lush with ornamentals and hardwoods reminiscent of bygone days. The evening will include a live auction, live entertainment featuring a local favorite, Sawgrass Blues Band, delicious foods and much more! All proceeds from the event will go directly to support Clubhouse Atlanta, a non-profit organization whose vision is to provide an inviting place for adults living with a mental illness that gives them respect, dignity, and courage to reach their full potential.
