Getting to Know You
Charlie Augello, #1 Deli and #1 Community Servant

Thirty eight years ago, Charlie and Anita Augello opened E 48th Street Market in Dunwoody. Fast forward to today, and they're not just running Georgia's Best Deli (as recognized by Taste of Home) – they are pillars of our community!

Charlie first became aware of Rotary while in high school and then shortly after he started his restaurant, a couple customers invited him to attend a Rotary meeting. Back then, he was focused on his new business and couldn't commit to joining a club. By 2009 the restaurant was established, and he was looking to get involved in a way that gives back to the community that has been such a part of his success.

His favorite activity through the years has been working with USO and then more recently helping to start Anchor Place Respite Dunwoody. He especially likes how the finances support local and also international causes and recognizes that through Rotary, your donation dollars go a long way. Charlie likes the social events and hopes the club continues to find reasons to get together for dinners and other events.

In recognition of their incredible contributions, club president Jack Sparks created the "Charlie and Anita Augello People of Action Award" in June 2024. This annual award will celebrate members who passionately improve Dunwoody and the world.

Service and Fellowship
Know Someone Who Would Like to Be an Anchor Place Volunteer?

Do you know a family member, neighbor, or friend who might be interested in joining our fabulous volunteer team? Participation is fun and rewarding - offering joy to our friends and a needed break for caregivers.

Please pass along information about our next volunteer training - scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 10am-12noon. If you can help us spread the word to your faith or civic community, please do. Mary Cohen is happy to speak to anyone personally.

Here's a link to register.
