No Meeting This Friday
Special Opportunity to Meet with Past Global Grant Scholar

There is no meeting this Friday, as many of our members travel to SanDestin for our District 6900 Rotary Conference. That said, we do have a special visitor coming to Dunwoody on Friday - Captain Sean M. Minton, a former Rotary Global Grant Scholar who studied in London. He has provided us with an update on "Team Minton" - and Kathy and Fred Brandt are planning to meet the team for an informal breakfast on Friday. Enjoy the update that follows here - and if you'd like to join Kathy and Fred tomorrow morning, give them a call today for the details.

A snippet from the update . "My time in London attending King’s College London, tying in with the Rotary Club of London, and starting up the Rotaract of Club of London affects my perspective on the world every day. My time abroad gave me a deeper understanding and more diverse perspective on global issues of peace and conflict prevention/resolution, listening to others from around the world and hearing their views. Today, more than ever, we have to listen to know how to address the problems of our time. This was by far the greatest lesson that the Rotary Global Grant Scholarship gave me, and I am blessed to have been given the opportunity." [more]

Service Opportunity
A Few More Volunteers for the Dunwoody Arts Festival

As we get closer to the Dunwoody Arts Festival, thanks to Rotarians for the enthusiastic turnout. We have Friday night and most of the early Saturday morning slots filled for Artist Set-up but still need a few volunteers

  • One more person for Friday, May 5 Artist Set-up from 6-9 pm
  • Four more people for Saturday morning Artist Set-up from 6-9am
  • Volunteers for  Dunwoody Rotary's informational booth on Saturday and Sunday during festival hours.

To volunteer for either role, please send your name, email, cell phone and desired role to Kathy Brandt 404-797-0705 or kgbrandt1@comcast.net.

Golf Tournament Update
It's All about Golf, Alzheimer's and the Dunwoody Rotary Charitable Fund

We hope you're ready to support Dunwoody's second annual FORE the Memories Golf Tournament on May 15 at the prestigious St. Marlo Country Club in Duluth, GA. We have room for golfers, volunteers and sponsors - check in with Dottie Toney Ransom if you'd like to volunteer, and visit the tournament website or contact Rick Woods if you'd like to be a sponsor.

We can't promise to improve your golf game, but we do know that your support will benefit the Alzheimer's Association and other charities we support in the Dunwoody Community.

Save the Date
Plan to Join Our Year-End Celebration!!!

On Thursday, June 15, plan to join us at the Dunwoody Country Club for the time-honored tradition of celebrating Jennifer Shumway's leadership this Rotary year and welcoming in Jack Sparks and his leadership team for the 2023-24 Rotary year. It's a great opportunity for fellowship and we'll take the time to recognize some Rotarians for their special contributions to the club and the work we do!

The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 pm - we'll be serving heavy appetizers and beverages! You and a guest are invited to attend. Please RSVP to Louise Barden by email at lbarden@comcast.net.

Fellowship Opportunity
Join Us for Theater Night - June 3

Ron and Louise Barden would like to invite you to join us at the Aurora Theatre at 8 PM on June 3 to see a hysterical comedy, "The Play that goes Wrong."  They saw this in NY, as did Carter. If you'd like to join, please buy your own tickets at http//: www.auroratheatre.com. At this time, seats are available and there are no bad seats in this beautiful new theatre. I suggest you buy tickets soon. If you wish to meet for supper before the play, let Louise know and she will make reservations at a restaurant near the theatre in old downtown Lawrenceville.
