This Week's Speakers
Stephanie Freeman and Shavonne Reed, Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce

This Friday, we'll hear from Stephanie Freeman and Chavonne Reed of the Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce. You can join us in person at LeMeridien or via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86202979419.

As President and CEO of the Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber, Stephanie is dedicated to continuous organizational and community improvements in the face of a rapidly evolving and changing market. She promotes active participation and collaboration through a variety of initiatives to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of the City of Dunwoody and the surrounding region.

Chair of the Dunwoody Chamber, Shavonne describes herself as a "Marketing & Communications expert, on a mission to broker happiness and well-being for a healthier and happier world." She is a speaker, trainer, facilitator and author. Her company - OPUA Agency - enables mission-driven organizations to raise health-consciousness through effective marketing and communications awareness initiatives.

Support Our Fundraiser
Exclusive Whiskey & Cigar Pairing Raffle - October Drawing 18 Days Away!

In our first ever Whiskey & Cigar Pairing Raffle, this month's featured prize is a Weller Antique 107 Bourbon with two "paired to the bourbon" specialty cigars. Tickets are on sale now at www.whiskey-raffle.com. Only 49 of 100 tickets remain at this writing for the drawing that takes place October 31. Be sure to share the link with anyone you think would enjoy this special opportunity - proceeds will support the Rotary Club of Dunwoody's work in the community and around the world! And, people can buy tickets for our November and December drawings too - featuring a Shortbarrel and a Blanton Original Single Barrel bourbon with matching cigars.

So what's special about the Weller Antique 107 Bourbon? Featuring a balanced and full-bodied flavor, this bronze-colored spirit ages for seven years in new white oak barrels. In Weller Antique 107, we detected notes of fruit, vanilla and cinnamon. The aroma hits your nose, with subtle hints of vanilla, caramel and butterscotch. Deeper within the nose are whiffs of leather and nutmeg with trace amounts of cinnamon. Most surprising is the amount of oak that comes off of it for a relatively young bourbon. The bottle has a $150 value - tickets are $15 each.

We need YOUR help - buying tickets of course, but more importantly, sharing this with friends,  family and business associates who might be interested in this unique opportunity. We have posted a flyer you can download from here to distribute - and you can share the information through social media

Remember, individuals MUST be 21 years old to participate.

Thirsty Thursday
Celebrate Long-Time Friends in a New Place Next Thursday!

Mark your calendar now for Thursday, October 21 - when we welcome Rotary Club of Dunwoody Alumni to join us for Thirsty Thursday in a new venue - Porter Brew & Que Brewery, 5486 Chamblee Dunwoody Road. The fun begins at 5:30 pm!

Why are we reaching out to our alumni? Because they are part of our Family of Rotary ... and we believe once you're a member of the family, you're always a Dunwoody Rotarian.  Who knows, we might convince a few to get involved again ... as an active Rotarian or an active friend of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody.

Why are we meeting at Porter Brew & Que? Because they are part of the Dunwoody business community and because they made a generous whiskey donation to our raffle.

So come and join us on the 21st!

GRSP
Gearing Up for GRSP Leadership Weekend: Join October 27 Planning Meeting

We are gearing up for one of our major undertakings of the Rotary year - the 2022 GRSP Leadership Conference! We expect about 43 international students from colleges and universities all over the state of Georgia to join us in Dunwoody over the Martin Luther King weekend (January 14-16) and would welcome the help of all Dunwoody Rotarians and members of our Family of Rotary.

Learn more about what we have planned - and how you can help - at our next committee  meeting, set for Wednesday, October 27 at 7:00 pm via Zoom. And mark your calendar now for the Leadership weekend in January - you won't want to miss out on the fellowship with our international students and your Family of Rotary.

Contact the Bardens if you'd like more information.

Rotary Means Business
Network with Rotarians from Around the District on October 19

That's when the Rotary Means Business fellowship will gather again - at the Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, Perimeter. Last month's gathering drew a crowd - with Rotarians from the Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Tucker, Peachtree City and Atlanta Metro clubs. A brief presentation addressed effective uses of LinkedIn and other marketing strategies, then attendees enjoyed the opportunity to network. So plan to join us on October 19 at 6:30 pm.
