No, it's not a MAGIC show, but you might find out who the people in the photo are and what are they wearing on their heads! It's our 40th anniversary and Rotary year-end celebration on Thursday, June 20 at the Dunwoody Country Club.
When 35 people joined together in 1984 to form the Rotary Club of Dunwoody, who among them would have guessed all we would achieve in 40 years ... Past Presidents Gary Lane (a Charter member), Jennie Stipick, Kathy Brandt and Rick Woods will lead us through the Dunwoody journey of "Having Fun, Making a Difference."
The celebration starts at 5:30 pm. Food, fun and fellowship have been hallmarks of our past - and this event will be no exception. You and a guest can enjoy complimentary beer, wine and sodas, and a buffet dinner. We'll relive some special moments from the past while we celebrate Jack Sparks' year as president and welcome in the future with President Elect Louise Barden and her leadership team.
And between now and then, think about something Ed Godshall said at the 1993 holiday luncheon (our 10th) ... "While the Dunwoody Rotary Club continues to grow, we need to remember the factors that made ours a great club; a very friendly club, capable leadership and willing members, goal orientation, and a desire to be the best." Here's the magic of the next 40 years!
We have experts - and you're invited join in the fun! The photo here comes from Past President Lang Wooddy's archive - it shows float building for the inaugural Dunwoody Fourth of July campaign when Lang was President in 1991-92.
Join us at Alison Norris's home to experience a long-practiced Dunwoody art form ... the ability to build a float that tells our story while enjoying food, fellowship and even a beverage! It's really a float-building party ... and many hands will make quick work of it. Bring your favorite beverage (BYOB) and a side dish to share. Plan to come together to decorate and enjoy a cookout afterward.
Here are the details for our float-building extravaganza:
Parade Decorating Party & Cookout
We invite you to walk in the Dunwoody Fourth of July parade. Let's make this Independence Day special!
And enjoy the photos - the first from 2009, our 25th anniversary year - when the banner was carried by Rachel Ribeiro, our GRSP student from Brazil, and Vicki Stipick, daughter of Past President Jennie Stipick. And the second from 2012, when our student from Scotland - Helen Murphy - joined in the parade fun.
