As Camille Charmetant comes to the end of her year as a Rotary Youth Exchange student, she will share some of her thoughts on the year at this Friday's meeting. Join us at LeMeridien to hear her story and wish Camille well!
Camille is from Esneux, Belgium, near Liege. She attends an English immersion high school in Liege. She speaks four languages: French, English, Dutch and Latin. Camille is the middle of three siblings. She loves animals, especially horses. Camille is a junior at Dunwoody High School during her exchange year.
In case you didn't see our story Monday, we are sad to say goodby to Past President and Honorary Member Ed Godshall, who passed away last Tuesday. Ed had been battling cancer for the past year. Services will be tomorrow, Thursday May 25 at 2 PM in the Kellett Chapel at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30305.
Ed first joined the Rotary Club of Dunwoody on April 26, 1985, just one year after our Club was funded and served as Club President 1993-94 - the club's 10th anniversary year. As Club President, he started our Governor's Ball, which raised between $500,000 and $800,000 in the 25+ years that followed. It seemed only fitting that we include several photos here of Ed and Susan at the Governor's Ball. Some of you may remember Ed as one of the "cowboys of Dunwoody" as part of our anniversary Past Presidents' presentations, or as one of the "coneheads' along with Lang Wooddy, Gary Lane and others who added a touch of humor to our gatherings. Ed has been an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody for the last several years. He also served the District in several capacities.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital, 5665 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Atlanta GA 30342, or winshipcancer.emory.edu; or Peachtree Presbyterian Church 3434 Roswell Road, NW, Atlanta, GA 30305, or peachtreechurch.com. You may also choose the charity of your choice to honor Ed.
We hope you will join in the fun and fellowship of our end-of-year party at the Dunwoody Country Club on Thursday, June 15! Louise Barden nears to hear from you by June 8 about your participation in the celebration - including whether you are bringing a guest. Help us let President Jennifer know how much we appreciate her leadership this Rotary year, celebrate some special Rotarians, and welcome Jack Sparks and his leadership team for the 2023-24 Rotary year.
The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 pm - we'll be serving heavy appetizers and beverages!
You and a guest are invited to attend. Please RSVP to Louise Barden by email at lbarden@comcast.net.
“You are truly the Dream Team...” That is what Dunwoody Art Festival organizers call Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Dunwoody and Atlanta Rotaract who volunteered to help at Dunwoody Art Festival 2023.
Rotary turnout - 24 Rotarians representing Rotary Club of Dunwoody and Atlanta Rotaract - was significant and particularly appreciated by visiting artists. [more]
