Beginning in 2011, Lynn Deutsch served as a Dunwoody
City Councilmember and was elected Mayor in November 2019. After
graduating from the University of Texas with bachelor’s degrees in Government
and Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin, she earned a master’s
degree in City Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a graduate
certificate in Gerontology from Georgia State University.
Prior to her election to City Council, Lynn served on the
Dunwoody Planning Commission and on boards of her neighborhood Women’s Club, as
well as the Dunwoody Homeowners Association. Lynn is a long-time education
volunteer and advocate who has served in a variety of leadership roles at
several area schools. She has also served on state- and county-level
committees.
Lynn is a recent graduate of the Arts Leaders of Metro
Atlanta program and the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership
Institute. In addition to serving on the Legislative Policy Commission of
the Georgia Municipal Association, she is Vice-Chair of the policy committee of
the DeKalb Municipal Association.
Lynn and her husband Barry have three young adult children
and a rescue dog, Boomer.
